Planting Times - Adelaide Hills Print

I've always found that vegetable planting guides for Australia are very optimistic, suggesting that tomatoes can be planted out in September in Melbourne, when everyone knows Cup day is the time to plant tomatoes if they're going to grow.

The Adelaide Hills are often not shown on climate maps as being different from the plains when, in fact, they should be more properly lumped with Tasmania. See Peter Cundalls Guide to planting in Tasmania.

Based on a last frost date of the 14th of October (Malcolm Campbell) and U.S Information on planting times relative to last frost date I came up with this much more conservative planting guide for the hills.

  • Basil 14th Oct
