Winter Tasks Print

This weekend I attneded to all the little tasks that have to be done mid-winter.

I sprayed the stone fruit triees with Bordeaux (don't confuse Bordeaux with Copper Oxychloride whcih causes birth defects). I planted avocado seeds, grape cuttings, tomato seeds, eggplant, capsicum, broccoli and artichokes. I patched up my funny mini greenhouse to keep all the seeds cosy and warm. I sprinkled blood and bone and Dynamic Lifter. I discovered that Dynamic Lifter is to chicken pooh as Deb is to potato. If you get it wet, it turns back into chicken pooh. So instead of sprinkling dainty morsels of dry pellets I was trying to get sticky goopy pooh off my gloves.

Despite the bleak weather, the citrus are ripening which is lovely to get something, albeit a small something, from the garden.

And according to the song, when the daffodils dance in the sun and the rain then the springitme is coming ... think the authors of that song were a bit optimistic!
