An old Belgian variety first recorded in 1811. Probably raised by Van Mons and named after Bauman Bros of Bouxwiller. Received RHS First Class Certificate in 1878. Frormerly grown in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
Medium sized, flat shaped fruit. Colourful with a brilliant crimson skin. Firm, juicy, white flesh. Plain, brisk flavour, sometimes with a hint of strawberry.
